Early Life

Theodor Capitani von Kurnatowski was born in Covington, Louisiana, on March 19, 1980.

He is the son of Roland von Kurnatowski Sr and Gina Capitani, while he has two younger sisters and an older brother. They all reside in Louisiana, Baton Rouge.

Theo’s father Roland was 70 years old when Theo was born, and he was originally from Nicaragua.

Still, Theo also pulls German, English, Italian, Polish, and Scottish heritage as well.

Covington is an area which covers numerous animals from the Southeast to the upper Midwest, and that is the reason why Theo gave it a nickname “The Stray Animal Belt”.

In one of his interviews, Theo said he didn’t see a housepet dog until he was 11, which gives you a clearer picture of the area he lived in. Instead, there were many dogs who were just roaming around.

Besides dogs, there were cats and rats and birds, and Theo was familiar with all of them, as animals seem to love Louisiana, and visit it often.

Theo grew up in a poor family, and he used to say he could only have humor, as that wasn’t the case with money.

As he was a child of an elderly man, Theo was bullied in school and had a rough childhood in general.

Theo actually used comedy as a defensive mechanism at first.

He tried to make some money for living through comedy, but he never thought this would be his profession when he grows up.

Career Development

Everything began with popular “crank texting” in 2009. Theo was sending messages to random phone numbers in order to incite a conversation.

Theo says this kind of random texting revealed a lot of universal truths and patterns to him.

For example, he saw that people are choosing to be very perverse, that some states are more gullible than the others, etc.

At one point, crank texting triggered some legal issues, but he continued with the blog since the fall 2018 release.

This “crank texting” idea made him begin his own blog, which achieved 10 million page views.

He actually gained fame through Road Rules: Maximum Velocity Tour, when he was only 19 years old.

This all was a part of MTV’S immensely popular reality game The Challenge. After the Road Rules: All Stars, MTV released Road Rules Challenge, in which Theo competed.

Locals in Louisiana harassed Theo after the show ended in 2000, which made him move to Los Angeles when he was 23.

He knew New Orleans, and Louisiana, in general, were tough places to develop at what he was good at. There was no regular comedy scene by the way.

The audience there didn’t need a comedy club at the moment when Theo was having the desire to make something bigger. On the other side, many people from the area have never been to a comedy show before, while others didn’t have the sense for comedy.

However, seems like Theo Von was going through a tough period at that time, as he wasn’t lucky to get a chance in Hollywood.

They saw him as a reality TV star, and talent agents didn’t recognize the spark within him.

The shade of a reality TV star accompanied Theo for years, and it was very hard for him to shake the image audience had and establish himself as a comedian.

Primetime in No Time is a Yahoo’s TV recap show Theo hosted in 2012. He replaced former host Frank Nicotero, and the show achieved great popularity it became the most watched daily show on the internet.

Theo acted in his first film in 2012 – InAPPropriate Comedy, which hit theaters in 2013.

Deal With It is the TBS hidden camera show Theo used to host in 2013 and 2014.

Howie Mandel, executive producer of this show gave him the chance to prove himself, and Theo stayed in the show for three seasons.

As time went on, he was invited to host Hello Ross, Chelsea Lately, The Arsenio Hall Show, and Watch What Happens Live.

A weekly podcast called “Allegedly with Theo Von & Matthew Cole Weiss” started in 2015.

Even though these two are friends, they are totally opposite – Theo is a comedian, while Matt is a journalist/filmmaker.

The story of the podcast evolves about their experiences and stories about celebrities, dating, traumas, hilarity, and their paths since they started living in Hollywood.

Reality Bites Back is a one-season series hosted by Michael Ian Black. A cast of comedians (Theo Von, Amy Schumer, Donnell Rawlings, Chris Fairbanks, Mo Mandel) had the task to improvise their imaginative way through faux reality show episodes.

Theo revealed much about his younger days in No Offense, which was released on February 26, 2016, on Netflix. He reveals everything about the days where he used to work at a door store.

No Offense is definitely one of the most popular Theo’s shows, on which he talks about how he met Brad Pitt, dating experiences and mishaps, chasing down chimpanzees, and many more.

He writes his own stuff, as his talent to turn his experiences into jokes is immense, which is something the audience loves.

The show is named No Offense for a reason, as Theo is sometimes a bit offensive. He would say “No offense” a couple of times during the show, even though it would be hard not to, but, as the audience describes Theo – he is charmingly offensive.

This Past Weekend started broadcasting in 2016 and is active at the present as well. This is an independent podcast in which Theo advices men about various different troublesome situations.

When it comes to his idols, Theo respected Jerry Clower, a comedian from Mississippi, who was a great story-teller, which inspired Theo as well.

Theo’s newest podcast King and the Sting, on which he works with Brendan Schaub, was released recently. The Rat King and Beekeeper fans already love the show.

He appeared in Comedy Central’s This is Not Happening season 4 recently, as well in his own digital series for Comedy Central – Man Up, which is currently being formatted. In the end, he starred in Comedy Central, Trevor Moore’s special The Story of our Times.

Personal Life

In 2003, Theo was in a relationship with Sarah Greyson, an American Reality TV star contestant.

From 2003 until 2016 we have almost no clue if Theo was dating at all.

Then, in 2016, Theo Von was in a relationship with the former Real Housewife of Beverly Hills – Brandi Glanville. He was 36 at that time, while she was 43.

The former couple met while doing each other’s podcasts. They split up because he was traveling a lot, and wasn’t able to dedicate himself yet.

On the other hand, it seemed that Brandi fell in love with his ability to make her laugh the most. Even though it seemed this relationship would last, they were together for a month only, which made people wonder if he was gay.

He is generally good looking, has a pretty face, is intelligent, and funny. In the end, his female fans admire him for his excellent physique, humor, but for his bank balance as well.

The fact he hasn’t had any serious relationship, and the ones he had were very short, was a bit unexplainable. Still, there is no evidence he is gay.

Theo loves luxurious cars and owns a significant number of them.

He lives in a lavishing house with proper decors and ventilation, while the architect helped him express his charm of the famous comedian through the interior design.
