Kali Muscle, also known as Mr Muscle, is a an American celebrity who first became known as a stunning bodybuilder but after that he proved himself as an actor also known as Mr Muscle.
He gained millions of followers on his Youtube channel and earned a big amount of money by his hard work. He is widely popular as a bodybuilder in the Geico commercial which was really the commercial that gave him international recognition.
Early years
Kali was born as Chuck Kirkendall on February 18, 1975 in a town Oakland in California where he has spent all of his childhood.
He had two brothers with whom he has spent his childhood and they are still in good relations. His childhood wasn’t easy and he had to find the way to cope with the poverty and domestic problems mostly risen out of lack of money.
Kali said that this built him as a person and that his life nowadays would be different if he didn’t learn what the true value of money and family. He grew up in a very poor environment and had a stepfather who physically abused him and his mother didn’t protect him.
He said that it was a very sick atmosphere alltogether and that he had a hard time developing in any way because his household was toxic.
Kali found a job at the gym and he even started training there. This was his way of letting steam due to the troubles that he had.
He started wrestling in high school and showed great potential. He was very strong and agile and his trainer thought he could get a scholarship for wrestling.
Football was the second sport he loved and due to his built, talent and will for work received a football scholarship for the Fresno State University.
The event from his youth which triggered his misbehaviour and his problems with the law was his brother’s death which occured while he was away in college.
This sad event changed his life moto and he started hanging up with criminals. It was a matter of time when he will end up behind bars. This didn’t even bother his family a lot since they were never that close to each other.
He has spent seven years in San Quentin State Prison which is a long period of time and he was wise enough to learn from that mistake. He was caught in an armed robbery and was sentenced for a strict punishment.
After being incarcarated he started to get interested in working out, because he didn’t know what to do with all his free time. He started watching his diet but this wasn’t easy in prison.
Nevertheless, he gained huge muscles and he has spent all of his free time in training. He said that it was very hard for him to force himself to do trainings even when he felt like he needed them because he wasn’t in a really good state mentally.
After he was released from prison, he decided to do what he likes most so he returned to training and opened his own YouTube channel.
Career development
Kali was released from prison in 2010 and he moved to Los Angeles. He wanted to start his acting career and to move away from crime. He made a promise to himself that he will never go back.
This channel contained his workout videos, advices about nutrition and fitness tips. These are very popular in the US, but also all around the world since people nowadays care a bit more about their health.
His first acting gig was in a Jamey Johnson video.
He auditioned for a Matthew McConaughey’s new film project and was hired for a small role.
Although his role wasn’t huge it gave him hope and confidence in himself.
After a few months he was hired for a commercial for “Old Navy”.
Due to his popularity, he gained new job opportunities such as doing commercials for Snickers, Honda and many known brands.
He acted in commercials for Taco Bell and Comcast.
In 2011 he was hired to play a role in the movie named “Wonder Woman” after which he appeared in another movie called “Applebaum”.
He acted as Mikey in the movie titled “The Dog Who Saved the Holidays” alongside Gary Valentine.
He train hard because he wanted to prove himself and others that he could succeed as a professional bodybuilder. Kali became Mr. California in 2012 and was thrilled about it.
Kali realized that he has a big influence on people, especially on young people, so he created “From X-Con to Icon” motivational plan and became involved in motivational speaking.
He wrote and released a book with the same name “From X-Con to Icon”. It’s really his biography and it was released in 2013.
His YouTube videos are named “Prison Workouts.”
Kali also had a role in “Big Shot”, a movie by Valente Rodriguez. All of these were not huge sucesses, but he says that it is important to start out small and build your way up.
Personal life
Kali Muscle married his wife Dvyne in 2009.
He filed papers for divorce six years later, and as the main reason for divorce he mentioned her lust for money, irresponsible handling of the money he earns and her enthusiasm about materialism. This is where we can see that his childhood demons were still with him.
In the meantime, he has found another woman, this time caucasian and she comes from Croatia, Europe.
She is named Helena and she is totally different from Dvyne. She posts photos of both of them and not only herself and she doesn’t care much for designer items or expensive brands. She is a simple woman who likes to experience new things and therefore is similar to him.
The two of them met at the FedEx event in San Jose and they just clicked. It seems that he finally found what he was looking for.
